Three arrested and charged with burglary in New Berlin
NEW BERLIN - On Sept. 8, The New York State Police at Norwich arrested three individuals; Jacob T. Burrell, 20; Melissa M. Land, 18; and Kayla L. VanPelt, 18; all from New Berlin. Each individual faces one count of burglary in the second degree, a class C felony.
The arrests occurred after troopers were advised of a burglary that had occurred at a residence on Hemlock Hill Drive, in the Town of Columbus.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that in July of 2016, Burrell allegedly damaged a window to the home while he and the two women allegedly entered the residence without permission and stole three bottles of liquor from inside.
Burrell, Land and VanPelt were arraigned in the Town of Norwich court and released on their own recognizance. Their next court date in the Town of Columbus is pending.
