Norwich soccer seeks to improve each game
NORWICH – The Norwich boys varsity soccer team enjoyed their best outing of the year – according to head coach Scottie Decker – when they hosted the Wildcats of Johnson City on Thursday, Sept. 15, ultimately losing 0-2.
A first half goal from the Wildcats would give them the early lead over Norwich, a 1-0 lead they would enjoy as they took that lead to the halftime break.
The second half, Norwich would again surrender a goal, moving the score to 2-0, as Justin Butler of JC, sent one in for the score. Both Wildcat goals were assisted by Kolbie Rowe.
“Exciting game for my boys who never quit,” said coach Decker.
Norwich would once again see all-star goalie, Keegan Prime defend his net valiantly, saving 10 shots, while the Johnson City goalkeeper, Adam Burns, would only be required to save three on the day. Notably Norwich would fail to gain any corners as the Wildcats would have seven in the game.
Following the loss to Johnson City, Norwich now slides to a 0-5 record on the season, and will be right back home on Saturday, Sept. 17, for another home game, however, this time the Seton Catholic Saints will be visiting. The game is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.
