Second half surge leads to Stockbridge win over Vikings

STOCKBRIDGE – The Otselic Valley Vikings enjoyed a close hard fought game against Stockbridge on Monday, Sept. 19., where sloppy shots on goal contributed to a 0-2 loss on the road.
With everything knotted up at 0-0 in the first half, OV failed to record any goals in the second half despite having 17 shots on goal in the game. Eventually Stockbridge would find the net in the second half, when two of their 21 shots landed for scores – Andrew Renner and Jordan Jacob each netted a goal for Stockbridge Valley.
“I told boys at half 'we are going to either run away with the game or we going to give up a mistake and lose one we should have won.' Unfortunately it was the second of the two. We gave up a penalty kick on badly cleared ball. That changed momentum of the game, into Stockbridge' favor,” said Otselic Valley head coach Jacob preston.
Preston alluded to sloppy shots on goal from his players as they failed to muster a single point in the outing.
“OV could not put the ball in the back of the net. It was like a glass dome was around it. The Stockbridge Valley keeper, (Wyatt) Reed, saved the shots he was suppose to save,” said coach preston “OV just could not hit the broad side of the barn. We missed the whole goal on a four on one with the keeper.”
The offensive woes for Otselic Valley (0-4 league, 0-6 overall) will need to be corrected quickly as they will host DeRuyter on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
