Norwich golf continues to dominate league
HARPURSVILLE – Norwich golf has downed another opponent in 2016, as they traveled to Belden Hill Golf Course to take on the Chenango Valley Warriors, a matchup that would see the Tornado emerge with a mere nine point victory, but another victory nonetheless.
Nate Scheer and Alex Gage would tie for the top medalist spot for Norwich when each shot a match and team low 36 on the course. Notably Belden Hill is a 36 par course.
Scheer and Gage were trailed closely by Ryan Johnson and Brenon Maynard who each recorded a 38 on the day, followed by AJ Little at 50 and Griffin Clipston at 52. This would land Norwich at a 198 for their combined team score.
For Chenango Valley, Dominic Francavilla would earn their medalist spot with a 38 stroke performance as his team's low on the day. This was followed by Webb Botting who shot a 39, followed by Kevin Grady at 41, Justin Wardell at 43, Ryan Wardell at 46, and Tommy Christoffersen at 48. This slate of scores would land the Warriors at a 207 team stroke count, essentially giving Norwich their fourth league win on the season.
Norwich (4-1 league) will be home for their next match on Wednesday, Sept. 21, when Chenango Forks comes to Norwich.
