Bobcats use second half to propel them to another win
OXFORD – Following their third place finish in the New York Pizzeria Tournament in Unadilla Valley over the weekend, the lady Blackhawks got right back to work when they hosted Bainbridge-Guilford on Sept. 19.
BG and Oxford both saw action in the pizzeria tournament, yet were never in a position to face each other, making for a tantalizing matchup on Monday. With a score of 2-2 at the half, the teams each looked for a way to edge the other. However, that spark would come in the second half for the Bobcats as Oxford seemed to fall off in the face of a second half resurgence. BG would put up four goals to Oxfords zero in the second half, solidifying the win at 6-2.
Goals and assists in the game: Molly O’Hara 2, Dina Cordes 2, Kassidy Champlin, Dallas Beang 1-1, Ellie Ryan 1, and Jin Cannislla 1-1.
In the win for BG it was Megan Palmatier and her defense who successfully solved the Blackhawks offense, holding them to just nine shots on goal, while Palmatier would save six shots. In the net for Oxford was Alexis Kohlhepp who saved eights shots, of the 18 that the Bobcats would enjoy in the contest.
Next up for Oxford (1-4 league, 3-5 overall), they traveled to Sidney on Sept. 20, before heading to Delhi on Thursday, Sept. 22. Bainbridge-Guilford plays Unatego at home on Sept., before hosting Sidney on Thursday, Sept. 22.
