Milford dominates the Storm, Martz records a hat-trick
UNADILLA – The Unadilla Valley boys soccer team has recently fallen to Milford, after hosting Milford on Wednesday, Sept. 21, in what was expected to be a semi-close game.
Milford would crush the Storm by a score of 6-1, in what would be an offensive explosion by Milford in the second half of play.
“Milford beat UV by a score of 6-1 at UV, despite going into halftime with a 1-0 lead. UV scored in the second to make it 2-1 with 30 minutes to go,” said Unadilla Valley head coach Ryan Houck. “What happened next was a flurry of four goals in the matter of 15 minutes by Milford to take a commanding 6-1 lead and win.”
Milford's 16 shots on goal and four corners would simply dwarf Unadilla Valley who could only manage seven shots with two corners.
Milford was lead by Garret Martz who recorded a hat-trick with three goals and one assist, followed by Sean Van Warner with two goals, and Cian Hall with one goal. In the loss for UV, Josh Nogaret would score the lone goal early in the second half, while keeper Adam Lamont would secure 10 saves in the net. Kyle VanTiffany for Milford would have a five save game.
Unadilla Valley will have both the girls and boys varsity soccer teams playing games tonight. Sept. 22, at 4:30 p.m. the girls varsity soccer team will be on the road playing Milford, while at 5 p.m. at home, the boys will be hosting Unatego.
