‘Meet the Doctor’ event at New Berlin Veterinary Clinic
NEW BERLIN – The New Berlin Veterinary Clinic will be hosting a 'Meet the Doctor' night next Monday, Sept. 26, from 5 – 7 p.m. They invite you to come and welcome their new team of doctors, Dr. Christine Johnson, Dr. Heidi Rivadeneyra and Dr. Kathy Mahon to the practice.
Dr. Christine Johnson is originally from the Bay Area of California. In high school, she started working at a local veterinary clinic. Johnson attended California State University Long Beach, obtaining her undergraduate degree in Zoology. During this time, she worked at a small, local animal hospital learning more about small animal, exotic, and wildlife medicine. From there, she attended veterinary school at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. Johnson also traveled to New Zealand, Spain, England and Africa to expand her knowledge and experience working with animals.
Now practicing at the New Berlin Veterinary Clinic, Johnson has moved to New York with her Scottish husband, and their Border Terrier, Reiko. Johnson also enjoys reading, hiking, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Heidi Rivadeneyra grew up near Schenectady, N.Y. She attended Cornell University, majoring in animal science, putting her focus on a future in Equine medicine. Rivadeneyra spent a year in Uganda working with cattle, sheep, and goats through Christian Veterinary Mission. While there she fell in love with cattle and small ruminants. She then worked on a dairy farm to gain more cattle experience before attending Tufts University. Rivadeneyra has since moved back to New York with her husband Cesar and their two dogs Tai and Paco. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, canoeing/kayaking, and spending time in the pool.
Dr. Kathy Mahon was born and raised in Maryland and became involved in 4-H at a young age. She attended Delaware Valley University, in Pennsylvania, and graduated with a degree in Animal Science. After college, she was employed at the University of Pennsylvania Marshak Dairy as a Production Animal Medicine and Herd Health Management Intern. Mahon attended veterinary school at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, West Indies. While in Veterinary school, she had the opportunity to work with an African wildlife veterinarian. Mahon currently lives in Georgetown, NY with her boyfriend Greg on his family's farm of registered Ayrshires. Outside of work she enjoys running, traveling, and showing her Ayrshire Cattle.
Free hot dogs and ice cream will be served at the event, and all are encouraged to attend.
