Norwich Police Officer Ryan Legacy odten spends his mornings at Gibson Primary School in Norwich to chat with the students and develop a positive relationship. Around the tables, discussions included weekend acivities, the importance of wearing helmets when riding bike, and the deliciousness of muffins. “I think the police presence is positive for the students in terms of developing a sense of community, that our school community is part of the larger community of Norwich. In addition, if our students are able to meet and interact with the police officers in a positive setting it makes it easier for them to turn to them when they need their help and it teaches them that police officers are a trusted person during difficult times,” said Principal Kisten Giglio.
