Oxford volleyball returns to form
OXFORD – The lady Blackhawks hosted the ladies from Greene on Sept. 28, for an inter-county matchup, with Oxford ultimately claiming the win in three sets at 3-0.
Oxford now moves to 5-1 on the season following this latest win, in which Indaria Quintana and Allison Beckwith truly would stepped up to help deliver the win for their squad.
The first set would see both the Blackhawks and Trojans battle in 25-23 set, to which Oxford would just barely secure the win.
Each set following the close first, the Trojans would seem to ware down as the Blackhawks simply were settling in on their home court. Oxford would defeat Greene in the next two sets with scores of 25-21, and a crushing win for the team victory in the third set at 25-10.
In the loss for Greene, Alena Young would record four aces, Heaven Parrish would record three aces and one kill, while Cheyenne Rich snagged one block in the match.
Quintana and Beckwith of Oxford would lead the charge in the win with Quintana racking up 11 aces, and five kills. While Beckwith saw her name in nearly every statistics category with four aces, three kills, two assists, and two digs. Also stepping up for the Lady Blackhawks was Lacey Hathaway and Andrea Dempsey. Hathaway recorded five aces and two digs and two digs, while Dempsey saw three kills and two assists go her way.
Next up for Oxford varsity volleyball (5-1) they will host Unadilla Valley later on today, Thursday, Sept. 29, at 6:30 p.m.
Next up for the lady Trojans they will have some time off to regroup after the loss before they host Hancock on Monday, Oct. 3, at 6:30 p.m.
