Warner records hat-trick in win over S-E
MORRISVILLE – The Warriors of Morrisville-Eaton hosted the ladies Marauders field hockey team, a game in which the lady Warriors dominated the offense for a 3-1 win in their home Morrisville Stadium.
The win for the Warriors on Monday, Oct. 3, came by two points over S-E, stemming from a 2-0 halftime lead. Following the break it was S-E senior Alexa Bates, assisted by Jessie Buruato, who nailed a shot toward the Warrior goal, finding the back of the net, cutting into the lead. This goal from Bates was the only shot on goal for S-E in the game, while they managed two corners.
Despite the goal from Bates, the Warriors would find the S-E net for the third time in the second half, drawing the lead and final score to 3-1. Scoring for Morrisville-Eaton was Kady Warner with a hat-trick on the day, as Lily Orth assisted twice with Alyssa Smalley assisting once.
The Warrior offense produced 11 shots on goal and six corners, while goalkeeper Alexis Jayson had no saves and one goal surrendered. For S-E Lexie Jordan and Jade Diamond split time in the net as Jordan had five saves coupled with Diamond's three.
Next up for Sherburne-Earlville varsity field hockey, they will once again be on the road when they travel to New York Mills on Wednesday, Sept. 4, as they search for that ever-elusive first league win in 2016.
