NORWICH – The Norwich boys varsity soccer team skidded to a halt for their 2016 season, when the Chenango Valley Warriors came to town spoiling senior night for the Tornado, as CV won 4-2.
Prior to the game beginning Norwich recognized its four graduating seniors: Chris Brown, Chris Jeffrey, Alex MacIntyre, and Keegan Prime.
However, despite managing an improved offensive effort – 12 shots on goal and seven corners – Norwich would only be able to muster two goals in the loss. Scoring for Norwich was Brendan Brush in the first half of play with around eight minutes left in the half. Brush was followed by fellow teammate and senior Chris Brown who notched a goal in the second half with 30:39 left in the game.
However, it was Chenango Valley's Nick Marinaro who upset the senior night celebrations with his four goal game to take the glory from the Tornado. Chenango Valley would only manage one addition shot on goal than Norwich, at 13, with three corners in the game.
“Very physical game,” said Norwich head coach Scottie Decker.
With this loss to conclude the 2016 season for the Norwich varsity boys soccer team, they look back on their season at the lone win against Afton which came earlier this week, on Oct. 4.
