Waterville tops lady Marauders on senior recognition day

SHERBURNE – Hot off a 3-2 win over Canastota, the Sherburne-Earlville varsity girls soccer team hosted Waterville in what was their senior recognition day, losing 2-1.

Prior to the matchup on the morning of Oct. 8, S-E recognized their 11 graduating seniors: Mattison Gunther, Lydia Trass, Emily Stanton, Miranda Wright, Taylor Coughlin, Kaceylin Belush, Katelynn Palmer, Abigail Mullen, Alexis Elderkin, Shay Franklin, and Tessa Cole.

Down 1-0 at the half, it was senior Tessa Cole who maneuvered herself into position for an unassisted S-E strike. However, the lone goal wouldn’t be enough to overcome a first half and second half goal from Waterville – Nora Gray one goal, Sydney Cook one goal, and Aliah Decker one assist.
