Sidney Warriors destroy Oxford

SIDNEY – The Oxford Blackhawks suffered through a moral killing, devastating 62-8 loss on the road to Sidney this past Friday evening.
The game this past Friday, Oct. 7, handed Oxford their second tough loss in a row, as they were coming off a shutout loss to divisional leaders and state ranked Harpursville-Afton on Oct. 1.
With a first quarter deficit of 36-0, and a halftime score of 42-0, the Blackhawks simply could not manage to get any traction in the game against the Warriors.
Sidney showed no mercy in the beat-down, already up 36-0, Sidney tacked on an additional 20 points in the third quarter taking the lead to 62-0 before Oxford managed to find the end-zone.
At 62-0 in the fourth quarter, and facing their potential second shutout in as many weeks, Oxford's stud running-back Xavier Cruz broke free from the pack as he ripped off a 56 yard run to the end-zone for the score – Jacob Smith added the point after kick.
In the win for Sidney, Alex Hoskins recorded 10 catches for 230 yards and three touchdowns; while Sidney's quarterback, Darren Smith, lit up the sky with his 17-25, 413 passing yards and five touchdown day.
The silver-lining in the loss for Oxford was their running-back, Cruz, who glided his way to a 13 carry 98 yard and one touchdown performance in the loss.
Next up for Oxford (2-4 overall) they will face Notre Dame (5-1), when they host them for the final game of the 2016 regular season for Oxford, on Friday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. under the Oxford lights one last time.

Oxford, Chris Martin 5-13 for 51 yards, and Daren Law 1-3 for 20 yards and an interception. Sidney: Darren Smith 17-25 for 413 yards and five touchdowns.
Receiving:
Oxford: Mickenson Clune 1-7, Charles White 1-12, Isaiah Peterson 1-11, and Rece Camadine 3-41. Sidney: Alex Hoskins 10-230 yards and three touchdowns, Nate Vibbard 3-76 and one touchdown, Parker Boice 2-37, Dawson Backus 1-23 and one touchdown, and Brandon Evans 1-47.
