City Council to review Traffic Commission recommendations
NORWICH – The Joint Committee meeting on Oct. 4 saw the Traffic Commission issue three recommendations, all of which were unanimously approved to be reviewed by the Common Council.
The first of these recommendations was that the City amend the No Overnight Parking to begin at midnight instead of 2 a.m. in order to assist with the clearing of snow from the streets.
Next was the Traffic Commission's proposal of instituting a 4-way stop sign at the intersection of Grove Avenue and Maydole Street. City of Norwich Alderman Ward 5 David Zieno reported that there have been many complaints of speeding in the area between Norwich High School and East Main Street. A petition was approved and signed by residents of Grove Avenue and Maydole Street.
Lastly, the Traffic Commission recommended a No Outlet sign be placed on Biviano Lane. Department of Public Works Superintendent Carl Ivarson reported that there was once a sign there, but it had disappeared two or three years ago.
Each of these recommendations were moved by the Joint Committee and will be potentially resolved at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at One Court Plaza in Norwich.
