Norwich man accused of committing heinous sex crime
NORWICH – The New York State Police at Sidney arrested a Town of Norwich man for allegedly committing a heinous sex crime on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
James F. Smith, 35, was arrested and charged with one count of criminal sexual act in the first degree, a class B felony; and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
The arrest occurred after troopers were advised of an incident that happened in the Town of Norwich. An investigation determined that Smith had sexual contact with the victim by forcible compulsion.
