Mount Upton man charged with multiple felonies

BAINBRIDGE - A Mount Upton man currently sits in the Chenango County jail after he was arrested by members of the New York State Police at Sidney on Saturday, Oct. 22, and stands charged with multiple felonies.
33-year-old Donald M. Wilbur is charged with assault in the second degree, a class D felony; criminal contempt in the first degree, a class E felony; criminal mischief in the third degree, a class E felony; and menacing in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
The arrest occurred after troopers responded to a report of a physical dispute with a weapon outside a home on Church Street in the Town of Bainbridge at approximately 9:20 a.m. on Saturday morning.
A subsequent investigation determined that Wilbur had allegedly approached a vehicle that he was following after it stopped on Church Street. One of the occupants of the vehicle had an order of protection against him. When the female passenger would not leave the vehicle, Wilber struck the window and door with a baseball bat several times, causing damage to the vehicle. This action also caused the victim and the driver to receive lacerations to their heads from broken glass, according to police.
Wilber was arraigned in the Town of Guilford Court, and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $50,000 property bond. His next court date in the Town of Bainbridge is pending.
