UVCSD band director stands-in during concert with premiere Army Band
NEW BERLIN – The Army Field Band was founded in 1946 and has since performed in all 50 states and 25 foreign countries for audiences totaling over 100 million people. Of the Army Field Band's four performing components, the Concert Band is the oldest and largest, consisting of an elite 65 member instrumental ensemble.
In addition to tours throughout the United States, the Concert Band has travelled and performed in Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, the Far East, and India.
The group appears in a wide variety of settings, from world-famous concert halls such as the Berliner Philharmonie and Carnegie Hall, to state fairgrounds and high school gymnasiums. On Oct. 28 in New Berlin, the Concert Band performed at a free community concert in New Berlin as one of nearly 30 performances taking place in the northeast as part of the U.S. Army Field Band's 2016 Fall Tour.
The Concert Band regularly has travelled and performed with the Soldiers' Chorus, together presenting powerful and diverse programs of marches, overtures, popular music, patriotic selections, as well as instrumental and vocal solos.
The organization has also performed joint concerts with many of the nation's leading orchestras, including the Boston Pops, Cincinnati Pops, and Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
On top of the many formal programs, the Concert Band has participated in numerous presidential inaugural parades and has supported diplomatic missions overseas.
Regardless of the venue, it is said that the pageantry and professionalism of the band's performance is sure to be entertaining and emotional for all audiences, instilling pride in American heritage.
