Bobcats continue to claw through competition

BAINBRIDGE – The young but astoundingly good Bobcats of Bainbridge-Guilford have now moved their unblemished winning streak game further with a 3-0 win over Moravia.
This Section IV Class C quarterfinal match featured the third-seeded, undefeated – then 15-0 – Bobcats tear apart visiting sixth-seeded Moravia on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
B-G claimed a first and second set victory by a score of 25-14, taking the score to 2-0. With the game and season on the line, Moravia battled with the Bobcats, however, the resilient ladies of B-G would edge out Moravia for their final set win in the match, coming by a score of 25-20.
Tenth grader Abigail Selfridge recorded two aces, 10 assists, 11 kills, and four digs in the win to help lead the Bobcats to their 16th victory on the season. Following Selfridge was younger sister, eighth grader Erica Selfridge who had one ace, two kills and 16 assists; tenth grader Zamira Caldwell with one ace, 10 kills, two blocks, and one dig; and tenth grader Alexis Carr who managed three aces and one block in the win.
Moravia provided no statistics on the game.
With the final four teams set in the semifinals of the Section IV Class C tournament – first-seeded Tioga, second-seeded Trumansburg, third-seeded Bainbridge-Guilford, and fourth-seeded Watkins Glen – these semifinalists will advance to Tioga on Thursday, Nov. 3, for the semifinal pool-play round. The top-two teams who emerge from the pool-play will advance to the championship which will be held in Corning on Nov. 5, at 6:30 p.m.
