County 2017 budget public hearing set for Tuesday

CHENANGO COUNTY – The Chenango County Board of Supervisors will hold its public hearing for the 2017 tentative budget on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Supervisors' Chamber.
County Treasurer Bill Craine will present the tentative budget to attendees and there will be an opportunity for people to ask questions and make comments in regards to the budget afterwards.
Some of the highlights of the tentative budget include maintaining a New York State Comptroller’s rating of 'not in fiscal stress' as well as being one of only two counties in the State that remains debt free.
The budget also allocates a $17 million general fund surplus, which is $2 million more than the two months of emergency income that they strive to maintain.
After delegation at Tuesday's meeting, the Board may then move to potentially enact the 2017 budget upon the approval of the Supervisors.
The Supervisors' Chamber is located in the Chenango County Office Building located at 5 Court Street in the City of Norwich.
