Marauder swimmers enjoy solid end to 2016

SKANEATELES – The swimming and diving team of the Sherburne-Earlville team posted some season highs to close out the successful season. Following the Section III Class C meet as well as the Section III State Qualifier S-E successfully broke broke two school records over that weekend span, with a third record falling during the season – all records that were broken were the relays.
During the Section III Class C meet, on Nov. 4, the S-E team enjoyed their first victory right out of the gates with a fourth place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. The relay team – Anna Rinaldo, Elizabeth Bachman, Kiana Marshall and Molly Bachman – earned the place with a time of 2:09.09.
In the very next event of the day, Molly and Elizabeth Bachman each earned a placing spot in the 200 yard freestyle. Molly landed at seventh with her time of 2:15.09, followed by Elizabeth at 2:16.26 to place her at 11th.
The fourth event, the 50 yard freestyle, saw Elizabeth Bachman return to take home an eighth place finish with her finals time of 28.02 in the event.
The sixth event saw diver Anna Rinaldo land a ninth place spot with her 258.95 points in the 1 meter dive.
The eighth event saw Molly Bachman step back in for her second race she placed in, this time coming in at 10th in the 500 yard freestyle. Bachman enjoyed a 10th place finish off her finals time of 6:09.69.
The ninth event, the 200 yard freestyle relay – Elizabeth Bachman, Kiana Marshall, Anna Rinaldo, and Molly Bachman – saw the S-E team earn a solid sixth place spot with their finals time of 1:53.71.
The tenth event, the 100 yard backstroke gave way to Rinaldo who placed 11th with her finals time of 1:12.51.
With the conclusion of the Class C meet, it was the 200 yard medley relay team, and the 200 yard freestyle relay team that advanced to the Section III State qualifier meet.
Taking first in Class C – and seventeenth overall – the S-E Marauders jumped right out of the blocks with their first event in the state qualifier. The relay team – Anna Rinaldo, Elizabeth Bachman, Kiana Marshall, and Molly Bachman – enjoyed a seed time of 2:09.09 before posting a finals time of 2:08.75.
In the ninth event of the evening on Nov. 6, the 200 yard freestyle relay team – Elizabeth Bachman, Kiana Marshall, Anna Rinaldo, and Molly Bachman – finished third in Class C with a seed time of 1:53.71 and a finals time of 1:54.48. This placed the relay nineteenth overall.
Neither S-E relay team would advance to the NYS Championship meet, despite their high finishes to the season.
