Mid-York Concert Band set to perform in December
NORWICH – The Mid-York Concert Band and music director Mark Sands have been busy preparing for their second annual holiday concert set for Tuesday, Dec. 20.
As they look to build on last year's successes, the concert will feature select seasonal favorites including Leroy Anderson’s 'Sleigh Ride,' the ever-popular ''Twas the Night Before Christmas' narrated by Judge Frank B. Revoir Jr., and a program ending holiday sing-a-long.
The concert will also feature guest vocalist and 1999 Norwich High School graduate Jes Sheldon performing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' and 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.' Sheldon has performed with a number of area bands over the years and is currently a vocalist with 'The Lightkeepers,' which received a 2016 Sammy Award (Syracuse Area Music Award).
In addition, the program will include the Brighton Beach March, Symphonic Prelude on Adeste Fedelis, A Hanukkah Festival, the first movement from Holst's Suite in F featuring euphonium soloist Chris Luttinger, and many more.
The show will take place at the Norwich High School auditorium at 7:30 p.m. While the concert is free of charge, free-will donations are encouraged and accepted at the door. For further information, call (607) 334-4307.
