DVD Patrol: Actor Spotlight: Jason Statham

Let's see what we've got, Patrollers! Once in a while the Toddster likes to take an actor and spotlight some really good movies. We thought we would bring back an old favorite with actor Jason Statham. He's been busy in the last few years after joining franchises like "The Fast and Furious" series, "The Transporter Trilogy", and "The Expendables." The patrol recently profiled "Mechanic: Resurrection" and had a great idea to bring some Holiday gift ideas with this actor in mind. All of these movies can be found on DVD shelves now.

DVD Movie Spotlight
Parker- Even a bad guy can have a code. Parker (Statham) was always a thief and was really good at his job. One thing that always helped him was operated a certain way. On his latest job, he helps out a crew to rob a state fair of all their cash. The job goes well but they have other plans for the loot including Parker's cut. They wound him and leave him for dead. What they don't know is Parker has will to survive like no other. He learns that they are headed to Miami to rob a shipment of Diamonds. With the help of Leslie Rodgers (Jennifer Lopez), he finds out where they are and hatches a plan to get back what was stolen from him. Can he stop them in time?

Safe- When someone hits rock bottom, it's nice to get a second chance to come back. Luke Wright (Statham) was a cage fighter until a fight went wrong and he owed all the wrong people money. Luke was also a cop who always tried to do the wrong thing. One day he meets a young girl named Mei (Catherine Chan) who is on the run from the Triads. She happens to be very good with Math and she holds the key to a code they need to run their business. Luke runs across her path and doesn't want to get involved. He later changes his mind and now he has to fix this situation. Can Luke find a way to help the girl and stop the Triads?

Homefront- There is nothing someone won't do to protect or do for their family. Phil Broker (Statham) was one of the best DEA agents there was until his wife died and he wanted to take care of his Daughter Maddy (Izabella Vizkovic). One day on the playground Maddy ran into a young bully who happened to be the School Bully. Her Dad taught her to take care of herself but she didn't want any trouble. She doesn't have a choice and knock the boy down. Phil comes to the school to find out what has happened. Cassie Klum (Kate Bosworth) wants the school to do something about the girl. Cassie send her husband at Phil but he also knows his stuff when it comes to taking care of herself. Desperate for revenge, Cassie asks the local Drug Kingpin"Gator" Bodine (James Franco) for his help. He may not know who or what he may getting into when Phil Broker is around. What will happen next to Phil and his little girl?

The Mechanic- It's not a good idea to cross someone who specializes in setting up things for people who disappear permanently. Arthur Bishop (Statham) was considered a "Mechanic." Not in the normal sense but he was good at taking assignments to take people down and he made them look like accidents. His employers wanted him to take down his handler Harry Mckenna (Donald Sutherland). Bishop takes the job but his son Stephen (Ben Foster) wants to learn the trade. Bishop is torn between the loyalty to his old friend and the guilt he feels for killing him. He decides to teach Stephen how to do what he can. He's not the easiest student to teach. While this goes on, Bishop learns that his employers lied to him and now they become the latest in his assignments. Is Bishop going to be able to stop them and help Stephen in the process?

Down the road, the Patrol will have future spotlights with other actors or other fun subjects. Back to new movies for next week. The Toddster will be right here.
