Route 8 semi accident halts morning commute

NEW BERLIN—Traffic was slowed for the morning commute along a section of State Highway 8 in the Town of New Berlin early Thursday morning, Dec. 8.

According to scanner traffic and those on the scene, an 18 wheeler traveling southbound jackknifed while attempting to negotiate a deer in the roadway. Sources indicate that the truck left the roadway during the incident, and that the sleeper portion of the truck sustained damage when it made contact with the trailer it was hauling as it jackknifed.

It is believed that slick road conditions were also a factor in the accident.
