S-E volleyball battles to 3-1 loss to Clinton
SHERBURNE – The Sherburne-Earlville varsity volleyball team has suffered yet another loss on the season when they fell to Clinton 3-1.
Clinton would jump out to a 2-0 lead by scores of 25- 16, and 25-18. S-E would grab one set win on the night – avoiding the shutout – when they snagged the third set by a score of 25-15. However, they would suffer their final set loss to Clinton in the fourth set when Clinton 25-18.
Standouts on the night for S-E were Chezney Lounsbury with 3 kills, 2 assists, 4 blocks; Melany Sines with 2 aces, 4 kills, 11 assists and 14 digs; and Sam Johnson with 3 aces, 1 kill, 8 assists, and 10 digs.
On the Clinton side it was Alexis Racioppa with 1 ace, 5 kills, 13 assists, and 2 digs; Emma Storey with 1 ace, 3 kills, and 1 block; and Kayla Mancuso with 4 aces, 2 kills, and 3 digs.
“The girls played really hard, just have to find a way to win,” said S-E head coach Ed Holmquist.
Sherburne-Earlville (0-5 overall) will play home next when they host Holland-Patent.
