NORWICH – The man accused of hog-tying, beating with what appeared to be a pistol, threatening to kill, and stealing property of a victim opted to change his plea to guilty to a lesser charge and will serve time in state prison.

Gregory F. Huzinec Jr., of Norwich, was the suspect believed to be involved in the Thursday, July 7, 2016 armed robbery on Lackawanna Avenue in the City of Norwich.

It was alleged that Huzinec did forcibly steal $60 in US currency, a cell phone, a driver's license, a medicare card and cigarettes from the victim while displaying what appeared to be a pistol and threatening to kill the victim.

It was further alleged that the defendant did abduct the victim against their will by duct taping their hands and feet together and did threaten to kill them with a knife and what appeared to be a pistol.

Additionally, in the course of the crime, Huzinec stood accused of striking the victim in the right eye with the butt of what appeared to be a pistol, causing the victim's eye to become blackened and swollen.
