GREENE – Two Chenango County rivals took to the bowling alley last Friday, Jan. 20, as Greene faced off against Bainbridge-Guilford.
B-G defeated the Trojan girls on a total pin-count of 2077 to 1798 after a three-game series.
Greene got off to a poor start, putting up a score of 586 in their first game, in comparison to B-G’s 696, and from that point on were never able to fully recover.
Standout performers in the matchup included Leeanna Gramis, who had a single-game high of 164 for the Trojans, and finished with a series score of 347; B-G’s Courtney Delello, who recorded the highest single-game score of the match with a 176, ending with a 458 three-game series; and Maya Cliffe, who notched a score of 164 in game three of the series, finishing with a 444 series score.
The Trojan boys fared better than their counterparts, and secured the win over their foes by almost 300 pins, on a total pin-count of 2720 to 2454.
Greene’s bowlers remained consistent throughout the matchup, logging pin-counts of 915, 887 and 918 for each game of the series respectively.
Despite B-G’s Ed Fuller finishing with the highest single-game score in the matchup, with a 225, the Trojans still managed to win rather comfortably.
Other standouts in the matchup included the Greene duo of Brandon Capra, who finished with a 644 three-game series and Brandyn Scott, who recorded a 584 series score.
Next up for Greene and B-G bowling; Greene will host Hancock on Monday, Jan. 23, at 3:45 p.m., while B-G will be hosting Sidney on Jan. 23, at 3:45 p.m.

OXFORD – The Oxford Blackhawks bowlers played host to Sidney last Friday, Jan. 20.
A strong game two, where they scored 854, propelled the girls to a three-game series win against the Warriors on a total pin-count of 2285 to 2028.
Best in the win for the Blackhawks was Jourdan Pinney, who boasted both the best single-game count, a 237 in game three, and series score, 612, of the match. Savannah Beech finished with a single-game high of 190, and a three-game series score of 434, while Erin Howard ended with a 471 series score, recording a game-high score of 163 along the way.
The Blackhawk boys were consistent throughout all three games, recording games of 898, 847, and 880, but that wasn’t enough to overpower a strong Sidney side.
After an extremely impressive first game by both teams, Sidney took an early lead and never looked back. They built on their opening score of 1,017 to eventually capture the victory on a total pin count of 2845 to 2625.
Best in the loss for the Blackhawks were Harry Oliver, who finished with the highest series score for Oxford, with a 579; and Gavin Wheatley, who recorded the highest single-game score on the day for the Blackhawks, with a 213.
Next up for Oxford bowling, they will be traveling to Deposit on Monday, Jan. 23, for a match start of 3:45 p.m.
Additional information will appear on the bowling teams mentioned above, as well as an update on the Norwich and Sherburne-Earlville teams in an upcoming edition of The Evening Sun.
