GREENE – The Greene swimming team took to the pool against Oneonta last Friday, Jan. 27, finding themselves on the wrong end of a final scoreline reading 90-51.
In the first event of the night, the boy’s 200 meter medley relay, the Yellowjackets showed their intent, finishing in first with a time of 2:07.72, almost a full four seconds faster that their opponents who clocked a time of 2:11.29.
Things didn’t get any better for the hosts as the meet progressed, with Oneonta taking both first and second places in the next three events, the boy’s 200 meter freestyle, the boy’s 200 meter inter medley relay, and the boy’s 50 meter freestyle, leaving the Trojans having to settle for third.
As they moved on to the diving portion of the evening, the Trojans picked up their first win of the night, with Dominic Williams scoring 160.25 points in the boy’s one-meter diving event to top the podium.
William’ victory proved futile, as Greene proceeded to drop to fourth place in the next two events, before Gray Reid secured a second place finish in the boy’s 500 meter freestyle event, clocking a time of 5:56.59.
The night wasn’t a complete loss for the Trojans, as Dominic Williams capped his previous victory with a PR time of 1:37.77 in the 100-meter breaststroke. Greene’s Matt DeJager topped the podium in that event for Greene, with a blistering time of 1:17.65.
