MAC League Bowling Tournament recap

KIRKWOOD – Several Chenango County bowling teams competed in the MAC League Tournament, which took place in Kirkwood last Tuesday, Feb. 7.
On the boy’s side, Sidney took top honors, finishing with a total of 2,691 pins. Bainbridge-Guilford followed close behind in second place, with a total of 2,656 pins, while Greene finished in third place, with 2,577 total pins. Oxford finished in fifth place out of seven teams, with 2128 total pins and Afton-Harpursville rounded out the field, with a total of 1,531 total pins.
Numerous awards were given out at the Tournament for best overall series, best single-game scores and most pins over average.
B-G’s Ed Fuller had the best series of the Tournament, finishing with a 663. Brandon Scott, of Greene, had the third best series of the day, notching a 570. The best single-game score also came from Ed Fuller, with a 230. Brandon Scott also had the third highest single-game score of the Tournament, with a 223. Afton’s Troy Mercilliot finished with the most pins over average in the Tournament, with plus 97.
On the girl’s side, Hancock topped the podium, knocking down 2,365 total pins. Oxford claimed second place, with 2,279 total pins, while B-G finished in third place, with 2,231 total pins. Greene finished in fifth place, with 1,734 total pins, while Afton-Harpursville rounded out the field once more, with 1,082 total pins.
Hancock’s Brenna Gleim had the best series of the tournament, with a 599. B-G’s Courtney Delello had the second-best series of the day, with a 554. Delello also had the second-best single-game high of the tournament, with a 207, while teammate Maya Cliffe had the third-best single-game high, with a 203. Destiny Beang, of Oxford, had the most pins over average, with a plus 100.
Next up for both the girls and boys in the MAC league, they traveled to Vestal to participate in the Section IV tournament. More will be reported on that in a later edition of The Evening Sun, once the information is made available.
