Five arrested following ‘no knock’ on Eaton Ave; one held without bail
NORWICH – Five individuals were arrested Friday following the execution of a ‘no knock’ warrant on Eaton Avenue where police say several ‘one-pot’ meth containers were recovered.
• 23-year-old Bradley Bishop, 40 Eaton Avenue, downstairs apartment, was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony; unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine in the third degree, a class D felony; and criminal nuisance in the first degree, a class E felony.
• Nathan A. Diamond, 37, and Michael D. Hackett, 42, both residing at the above address as Bishop, were charged with unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine in the third degree, a class D felony, and criminal nuisance in the first degree, a class E felony.
• 45-year-old Heather P. Angelino, homeless, and 40-year-old Neil P. Graef of 94 East Main Street, Norwich, were charged with the class B misdemeanor of loitering in the first degree.
The New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team’s assistance was requested by the Norwich Police Department due to the chemicals involved in the manufacturing of meth.
It was reported that employees of the NPD and CCERT were on the scene for several hours collecting chemicals, containers, and evidence.
The NPD was assisted by the Norwich Fire Department, City of Norwich Code Enforcement and Chenango County and Delaware County Sheriff’s Office K9 units.
It is alleged that Bishop knowingly and unlawfully sold heroin, and the unlawful manufacture of meth charges allege that Bishop, Hackett and Diamond possessed products to produce methamphetamine. It’s further alleged with the criminal nuisance charges that Bishop, Hackett and Diamond were maintaining a place where people gathered for the purposed of engaging in the sale of controlled substances.
Per a release from the NPD, "The arrests were the result of an investigation that included detectives from the Norwich Police Department and the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office. The Norwich Police maintained close communications and guidance from Chenango County District Attorney’s Office during the investigation. The search warrant was reviewed and endorsed by Chenango County Court Judge Frank Revoir, Jr."
The loitering charges for Angelino and Graef allege they remained in a place for the purpose of unlawfully using or possessing a controlled substance.
Bishop, Diamond and Hackett were arraigned in Norwich City Court Friday afternoon before Judge James E. Downey. Bishop was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail, Hackett in lieu of $15,000 bail, and Diamond was held without bail.
Angelino and Graef were both released on appearance tickets.
All five are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
It was further released by the NPD that the investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible.
