YMCA Women’s Corporate League recap

NORWICH – The Norwich YMCA Women’s Corporate League is in full swing. Competition in the league, which began about a month ago, on March 6, is just beginning to heat up.
Three games into the season, Upstate Companies lead the pack, boasting an impeccable 3-0 record. J. Barnes Stone, who have played an extra game, stand at 3-1. The Stadium and Team Corbin are both 1-2 on the season, while Ninas I is still seeking their first win of the season, with a 0-3 record.
Week one of the league saw a matchup of Team Corbin against The Stadium, as well as Ninas I versus J. Barnes Stone. The Stadium emerged as victors in their matchup, on a final score of 39-25, and J. Barnes Stone overpowered Ninas I on a scoreline of 86-32.
The second week saw Upstate Companies claim their first win of the season in their first game, over The Stadium, on a final score of 33-9. J. Barnes Stone were again winners in week two, and despite notching just half of their first week points haul, they overcame Team Corbin, on a scoreline of 41-30.
Week three brought the tantalizing matchup of the titans, with Upstate Companies facing off against J. Barnes Stone. It was the former who managed to earn the victory, as they managed to hold their basket-happy opponents to just 33 points in a 54-33 win. In the other game of the night, Team Corbin easily took care of Ninas I, on a final score of 61-18.
Last Monday, March 27, Upstate Companies scalped their third opponent of the season, with Ninas I playing the victim. Right on Upstate Companies heels, J. Barnes Stone were not to be outdone, as they handed The Stadium their second loss of the campaign, winning 45-31.
With six weeks still to go, there is sure to be plenty of more drama to ensue in the League. The Evening Sun will keep you up to date on all of the action, providing weekly updates on games and standings.
The next slew of games is scheduled for Monday, April 3. At 7:15 p.m. The Stadium will take on Ninas I, and at 8:15 p.m. Upstate Companies will take on Team Corbin.
