NORWICH – Things have not gone the way that they had hoped for, in the eyes of the Norwich varsity softball team so far this 2017 season. The Tornado lost their third game on the trot, as they were trounced by Windsor on Thursday by a final score of 13-1.
Norwich jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, and managed to keep Windsor at bay until the third inning, but then the floodgates opened.
Windsor scored six in the third, four in the fourth, and three runs in the fifth inning to clinch the comfortable victory.
Although Norwich cleaned up their errors, that wasn’t enough to quench the potent Windsor bats. Besides scoring their only run of the game in the opening inning of action, the Tornado offense was non-existent. They accounted for just three hits the entire game, while giving up nine to their opponents.
Arielle Jacquette accounted for Norwich’s only RBI of the game, finishing one-for-three at the plate in the loss.
Next up for the Tornado girls is a trip to the Johnson City. That game is scheduled for Monday, April 17, with first pitch at 4:30 p.m.
