S-E softball earn first win of the season

UNATEGO – The Sherburne-Earlville Softball team clinched their first win of the season this past Tuesday, April 18, beating Unatego on a final score of 12-7.
The lady Marauders powered their way to the victory with their bats. They recorded 15 total hits on the day. However, they struggled on the defensive side, committing five errors.
The game began as a close encounter, and both teams posted a scoreless first inning.
Then, the Marauders stepped up a gear. They notched four runs a piece in both the second and third innings to jump out to an 8-0 lead.
Unatego mounted a comeback in the fourth inning, scoring six runs, but the S-E girls were ultimately able to hold out for the win.
We had one bad inning. We had two double plays. Unatego had one double play,” said S-E head coach Michelle Parker. “Take away the fourth inning and it is a 12-1 game.”
The lady Marauders will be hoping to build on this stellar offensive performance when they Adirondack on Friday, April 21. First pitch in that game is slated for 4:30 p.m.
