SUNY Morrisville class to fundraise for county suicide prevention coalition
NORWICH – SUNY Morrisville PSYC 255 class has organized a car wash slated to take place Friday afternoon, April 21, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. to raise funds for the Chenango County Suicide Prevention Coalition (CCSPC).
The fundraiser will take place at the Morrisville College Norwich Extension, 20 Conkey Avenue, and cars will be washed for five dollars apiece.
100 percent of the contributions will go towards the CCSPC.
As part of the PSYC 255 class’ requirements, students were asked to develop an idea of a project that would have a positive influence in the community.
According to PSYC 255 Professor Dr. Julanne Burton, some of her students decided to organize an event to benefit CCSPC because not many people were aware that such an organization exists locally.
CCSPC’s mission statement is “To increase awareness and mobilize the community for suicide prevention.” Its motto is “Shine a light, save a life.”
