WINDSOR – The 2017 has not been kind to the Norwich varsity softball team thus far. They fell to 0-7 on Tuesday, losing to Windsor 13-0.
The Tornado went down big early, and were never able to recover. After just two innings of play, the Tornado were down 7-0. Windsor added on another six runs in the fourth inning to close out the comfortable victory.
Jen Ross, who pitched all five innings for Windsor, gave up just two hits to Norwich, allowing no runs, and striking out seven batters on her road to victory.
Alex Colley suffered the loss on the mound for the Tornado. She surrendered six earned runs, on nine hits over four innings of work, and also racked up four strikeouts in the defeat.
Following the loss, Tornado head coach Jim Sanford said, “We have the talent, we just have to put it all together.”
Sanford will be hoping that his side can pull it together sooner rather than later. Already on a seven game skid, the Tornado hope to finally end its losing streak when they travel to Oswego Free Academy this Friday, April 28. First pitch in that game is slated for 4:30 p.m.
