Chenango Bullthistle Mountain Biking take down race number two
WAWARSING, NY – The Team Chenango Bullthistle Mountain Biking team took to the road this past weekend for a trip to Lippman Park – where they saw some solid performances during their second race of the 2017 season.
“Team Chenango Composite did great,” said co-head coach Rob Baker. “It was a great day. Kudos out to all the kids giving it their all.”
The high school side of the team now sits at a solid 13th place out of 23 total teams in the league – all while functioning without a high school level female rider on the team, a hole that must be filled as the team earns a big zero points in the female rider category.
Individual middle school results:
Michael Cardoza (Norwich), junior varsity – first race
Blake Bennett (Norwich), 6th grade – first race
Andrea Trifunovic (Greene), 6th grade – first place
Anika Chirstensen (GMU), middle school – ninth place
Kayleigh Currie (Norwich), middle school – DNF injury
Individual high school results:
Jacob Lilley (Greene), 8th grade – seventh place
Nick Loscavio (Norwich), 9th grade – ninth place
Ethen Eldred (Sherburne-Earlville), 9th grade – tenth place
Alex Trifunovic (Greene), 9th grade – 19th place
Stanton Baker (Norwich), 10th grade – 22nd place
“The girls, with every race, are gaining more and more confidence on the bike. It’s so great,” said Baker of his young middle school girls team.
As the search for a high school level female rider continues, the Norwich Bullthistles will continue their training for their next race. Next up for the local mountain biking team is a race at Cathedral Pines County Park, in Middle Island, Long Island, on May 7.
