AARP Driver Safety Courses coming to Chenango in May
CHENANGO COUNTY – Chenango County Agency on Aging has announced two AARP Driver Safety Courses to take place in South Otselic and Norwich respectively in May.
On Wednesday, May 10, and Thursday, May 11, the South Otselic United Methodist Church will host a driver safety course from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each night. Participants must attend both days of the 6-hour total course to qualify.
Any licensed New York State driver that completes the course may earn a deduction on their car insurance for a three year period, or can have points removed from their license.
If a family owns more than one vehicle, a second person must take the course to qualify for the second vehicle's insurance discount.
All participants must bring their NYS driver's license, AARP card if applicable, and a pen to the class.
On Wednesday, May 17, and Thursday, May 18, Guernsey Memorial Library in Norwich will host a driver safety course from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day. As in South Otselic, participants must attend both days of the 6-hour course to qualify.
Class sizes are limited. The price to attend the courses is $20 for AARP members, and $25 for non-members. The fee must be paid on the first day of the course and should be made out to AARP.
