Oxford and B-G beat up on Greene tennis

Oxford Tennis defeats Greene 4-1 on Thursday (away)
GREENE – Greene varsity tennis suffered their second of three losses on the season last week, coming off a 5-0 loss to Sidney on Wednesday – Greene hosted the Oxford Blackhawks and were defeated 4-1.
On Thursday, April 27, it was the Trojans who would battle on the courts with Oxford – ultimately losing, but coming away with one team point in the process.
Third singles proved to be the lone match point that Greene would secure, as Kevin Gyurik took a 6-2 and 6-1 win from Oxford’s Destiny Bedell.
Harry Oliver defeated Zach Westover at 6-3 and 6-3 for the straight set win at top-singles. Second singles Greene saw Isaac Trass drop his match at 6-1 and 7-5 to Oxford’s Gavin Wheatley.
The deadly duo of Jason Davis and Rece Camadine at Oxford’s top doubles spot earned the shutout win over Greene’s Kelly Darling and Tommy Tran at 6-0 and 6-0. Jourdan Pinney and Natalie Barrows of Oxford closed out the 4-1 victory for the Blackhawks with a three-setter which saw scores of 1-6, 6-3, and 6-4 to Greene’s Rachel Franciscovich and Bryanna Kinney.
Next up for Oxford tennis (3-2 overall), they will play next at Hancock on Monday, May 1, at 4:15 p.m.
 
Bainbridge-Guilford Tennis defeats Greene 3-2 on Friday (home)
BAINBRIDGE – Greene was afforded no time to regroup – matching up against the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats to close out the week of losses with a 3-2 loss.
Friday, April 28, Greene was able to once again see improvement despite the team record, taking second and third singles for wins.
Although Bailey Hotaling at the top singles spot for B-G, earned the three set win over Zach Westover at 6-0, 2-6, and 6-3.
It was Isaac Trass and Kevin Gyurik who snagged solid Trojan wins on the day. Trass defeated B-G’s Owen Lambrecht at second singles in straight sets at 6-0 and 6-0. While Gyurik took Amaya Carlin to three sets, earning the win with scores of 3-6, 6-4, and 6-1.
The Bobcats swept the doubles play, which was instrumental in earning their home win on the day. B-G’s Jared Pruskowski and Dadeon Canfield defeated Bryanna Kinney and Kelly Darling at 6-0 and 6-1 – while Tannar Cliffe and Nate Oliver downed Greene’s Mary Borchardt and Sophia Brown in three sets at 0-6, 6-3, and 6-4.
Next up for Bainbridge-Guilford (2-2 overall), they will be traveling to Oxford on Tuesday, May 2, at 4:15 p.m. Greene (0-4 overall) will against divisional leader Sidney on Tuesday, May 2, at 4:15 p.m.
