GNG Hall of Fame announces tournament and induction ceremony
NORWICH – The Greater Norwich Golf (GNG) Hall of Fame is inviting golf connoisseurs from near and far to take part in a momentous weekend it has coming up on May 12 and 13.
On Friday, May 12, GNG will posthumously induct Bobbie Carson and Jim Mahoney into its Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at the Canasawacta Country Club (CCC) in Norwich at 6 p.m., and tickets to attend are $20.
On the following Saturday, May 13, GNG Hall of Fame has scheduled its third annual Better Ball of Partners tournament.
The tournament will be split into three divisions – men’s open, men’s senior (55+), and women’s open – and will be played as a scratch match.
“The tournament was established by the Hall of Fame committee to help raise money for local charities and to bring a scratch golf tournament to the area,” said GNG Hall of Fame Chair Denny Mirabito. “Currently there are very few tournaments of this nature in Central New York. The scratch format allows an opportunity for golfers to show their individual talent as well as participating in a skins game.”
Anyone 21-years-or-older is invited to compete in the tournament that will feature 18 holes of golf, riding cart, lunch buffet, closest-to-the-pins, and a skin pool. It’s reported that last year’s skin pool accumulated to over $2500.
The tournament will have a shotgun start beginning Saturday, May 13, at 10 a.m. at CCC.
The cost of the tournament is $60 per player. Checks can be made payable to Greater Norwich Golf Hall of Fame.
