National Weather Service: No tornado touchdown in Chenango
NORWICH – The National Weather Service (NWS) announced Tuesday, May 2, that there were no tornadoes in Chenango County as part of Monday's storm, but rather 'microbursts' that brought 100 mile-per-hour winds.

According to the NWS, a microburst is a "localized column of sinking air within a thunderstorm and is usually less than or equal to 2.5 miles in diameter."

The NWS reports that a powerful microburst passed near the City of Norwich at around 8:15 p.m. on Monday.
