Lady Trojans fall to Marathon

GREENE – In a hotly contested game, the Greene varsity softball team were narrowly defeated by Marathon in a non-league game last Thursday, May 4.
Runs were at a premium early in this game, with Marathon securing a 7-5 lead after just the first three innings.
The Trojans mounted a comeback, scoring a run in the fifth inning, but Marathon drove in another run in the sixth inning and were able to hold off Greene’s charge and cruise to the win.
Marathon’s starting pitcher D. Baldwin, gave up just four hits to the Trojans over six innings of work in the victory.
Greene’s Hanna Ludolph took the loss for the Trojans, Ludolph pitched five innings – before Chrissy Boeltz finished off the final two innings. Tiffany Johns played catcher for Greene the entire game.
Following this loss, Greene, who stand at 7-6 on the season, will play Harpursville this Monday at home, in the semi-finals of the 5-8 MAC League Tournament. The game is set for a 4:15 p.m. start, due to Greene celebrating their senior night prior to the first pitch.
