NORWICH – The Norwich varsity softball team scored in double digits on Monday, but that wasn’t enough to get them the win, as they succumbed to Chenango Valley on a final score of 18-10.
The Tornado found themselves deep in an 8-1 hole after the first three innings, and although they came up with nine runs in the final two innings, it wasn’t enough on the day, as Chenango Valley won by an eight-run margin.
“We battled the whole game and we never gave up,” said Purple Tornado head coach Jim Sanford following the defeat.
Best in the loss for Norwich was catcher Airelle Jacquette, who finished 2-4 at the plate on the day, with a triple and three RBI’s.
The Tornado will be hoping to rebound from this defeat when they play Chenango Forks on Tuesday, May 9, at 4:45 p.m. Notably, the home matchup with the Blue Devils will mark Norwich’s senior night, which will begin at 4:30 p.m.
