McGraw Baseball buries Otselic Valley 10-2 on Monday
OTSELIC – The weather would take the best out of the Vikings of Otselic Valley, as the varsity baseball squad curled up to a 10-2 loss at the hands of McGraw.
Monday night was cold, and in an effort to stay warm and effective – OV’s head coach Anthony Zaia elected to use three pitchers in the game. Justin Graham three innings one strikeout four walks, CJ Haitian 3.1 innings four strikeouts four walks, and Jonah VanVoorhis .2 innings two strikeouts no walks.
In what was a low contact game, McGraw managed to only outhit the Viking 6-1, however, that four-hit margin was just enough to lift the road team to the massive scoring opportunities.
McGraw jumped to a nice 4-1 lead after one inning, what happened next is what sunk the Vikings on their voyage toward another win on the season. The bats and therefore runs went silent for five innings. McGraw tacked on a run in the second before adding back-to-back two run innings. OV would finally see the light, adding their second run in the seventh inning – but at that point they were down 10-1 prior to the run – having left eight runners on base.
Tanner Costa was the lone Viking to record a hit in the game, going 1-2 with a run scored. Jamie Andres-Lopez would score OV’s other run.
Next up for Otselic Valley they are scheduled to play a road game against Brookfield on Wednesday, May 10, at 4:30 p.m.
