Headwaters Youth Conservation Corps recruiting for Summer 2017

Chenango County – The Place is currently accepting applications for its 2017 Headwaters Youth Conservation Corps (HYCC) program. The program is slated to begin June 19, 2017.

HYCC is a nine week program which gives teens and young adults the opportunity to engage in environmental stewardship projects throughout Chenango County and surrounding areas. Projects include but are not limited to wetland restoration work, woodlot management, trail construction and maintenance, and aquatic invasive species removal.

HYCC offers participants 300 Americorps service hours and the opportunity to receive a $1,221.96 education award as well as a living allowance award. The program also provides employment training and valuable memories. HYCC will take place over the summer months and is open to teens and young adults between 17 and 25 years of age.

This is a competitive program. There are only five slots available for crew members. Those interested in applying can contact HYCC coordinator Leon Hartwell immediately for an application and information by calling (607) 336-9696 x 109.
