Public invited to compete in 'Eat Smart, Play More: Chobani Healthy Challenge'
CHENANGO COUNTY – Chenango County's Building a Healthy Community Coalition is gearing-up to launch its 2017 health competition at a kick-off event on Saturday, June 10 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Weiler Park in Norwich.
The 12-week nutrition and fitness challenge dubbed 'Eat Smart, Play More: Chobani Healthy Challenge' – which will aim to improve individuals' health while raising money to be donated to local charities of the winning team's choice – is the brainchild of the Building a Healthy Community Coalition and Chobani as they strive to reduce obesity in the area.
Competing teams will be graded on daily challenges, participation in weekly team meetings, participation in team health and fitness activities, special events, as well as their ability to get additional people involved in their cause.
Team captains will send weekly reports logging their team's progress, and individual prize packs will be awarded to participants that demonstrate the largest percent decrease in body mass index.
Teams should register to compete in the 'Eat Smart, Play More: Chobani Healthy Challenge' before the kick-off event on June 10, but organizers will accept late registrations until June 16 so long as the competition's cap of 50 teams has not been met.
Event organizers are anticipating at least 200 individual participants.
