American Legion Post 348 to receive renovations

NEW BERLIN – American Legion Post 348, located at 6 Academy Street in New Berlin, for many years hasn’t had handicap accessibility for its veterans.

All that is about to change beginning on Wednesday, June 7, and ending Saturday June 10, as numerous volunteers will be coming in from surrounding communities to help with updating Post 348.

“The Impact Project will be providing assistance to another non-profit organization and this is our “90th project” since inception in 2004," said Jim Willard, Impact Project Director. "When completed Post 348 will have a new concrete driveway, sidewalk, handicap ramp, stairs and the property will be newly landscaped."

The Impact Project is an independent, Christian, non-profit organization that provides major home repairs for low-income, elderly and handicapped homeowners.

“Since our inception The Impact Project has completed 89 projects in 5 different counties (Broome, Tioga, Chenango, Otsego & Steuben) with the assistance of over 2700 volunteers," said Willard.
