ALBANY, NY – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I/Ref–Oneonta) welcomed Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred, Jr. to the floor of the New York State Senate on Monday, June 5.
Manfred, a native of Rome, New York, was on hand to receive the 2017 Italian American of the Year Award by the New York Conference of Italian American State Legislators.
“The commissioner has central New York roots and an inspiring personal story. He is doing great things to grow the game of baseball, especially for our youth, and is truly deserving of this special honor. I enjoyed catching up with him and discussing this summer’s National Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cooperstown,” said Senator Seward.
