Fundraiser supporting memorial scholarship for Savannah Williams this Saturday
NORWICH – A fundraiser to support The Savannah Marie Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund is slated to take place this Saturday, June 10 at the Canasawacta Country Club (CCC) Pavilion in Norwich.
On December 20, 2016, Savannah unexpectedly and tragically passed away in an automobile accident during her travel home to Norwich from SUNY Geneseo for Christmas break.
A committee has since formed to establish The Savannah Marie Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund in her memory.
On June 10 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., a live-band and barbecue benefit will take place at the CCC Pavilion to help build The Savannah Marie Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will be awarded annually to two graduating-Norwich seniors who share similar passions as did Savannah: an aspiration to contribute to the science world, a commitment to community and education, and a passion for athletics.
Beginning at 2 p.m., DJ Carlos Ithier will kick-off the afternoon's festivities comprised of a sold-out golf tournament, a Corn Hole Tournament sponsored by Empire Corn Hole, as well as a silent auction and raffle.
At 4:30 p.m., Mike O'Connor & Leslie Pasco will commence the afternoon's live entertainment with a set lasting until 6 p.m., when Bad Influence will take the stage until 8 p.m. The evening will then be capped by The Ryan Clan, who will perform their musical stylings for attendees from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Preregistration for the fundraiser is strongly encouraged but not required. To register, visit either of the Valero gas stations in Norwich or Oxford, or register online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2943914. You may also register at the CCC Pavilion on the day of the event.
Tickets for the fundraiser are $25 apiece and entitle attendees to a wide variety of food, live entertainment, and an afternoon of entertainment and altruism. Children 10-and-under can attend free-of-charge.
If you are unable to attend Saturday's fundraiser but would like to contribute to The Savannah Marie Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund, checks can be made payable to 'SMW Memorial Fund' and can be mailed to Kurt Edwards, 287 Aurora Drive, Norwich, NY 13815.
