OXFORD – Come to the Oxford Farmers’ Market this Saturday to learn about the fresh and free delicacies you likely have growing in your yard or nearby woods. Taking place in the Lafayette Park Bandstand, June 17th, 10 a.m. to noon.
This workshop will focus on how to identify, harvest, and prepare common “weeds” that are nutrient packed, delicious, in season, and safe to forage.
Familiar faces, Canice Paliotta and Lem Mills, (and a new special guest!) will guide attendees through what bounties nature has to offer right now, and in the coming months.
To help attendees become familiar with choice wild edibles throughout our region, there will be plant specimens, photographs, and reference books on hand. Pick up your copy of the Oxford Farmers’ Market cookbook that include recipes for how to prepare spring and summer wild edibles.
The Oxford Farmers’ Market takes place every Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon. Market vendors offer fresh-picked, locally-grown seasonal produce, plants, flowers, herbs, fresh eggs & rabbit, maple syrup, honey, preserves, and a wide variety of baked goods.
Also available are an array of handcrafted items; notecards, natural fiber products, natural soaps, the ever-popular Oxford Farmers' Market reusable grocery totes, and so much more.
All products at the Oxford Farmers’ Market are made by neighbors you can meet, hands you can shake.
