Working hard at Smokin’ Bones benefit for the Veterans

NORWICH – Smokin’ Bones BBQ, supported by Norwich American Legion Post 189, recently held a fundraiser for local Veterans.
“The goal is to get a whole plane filled and paid for so our Veterans can have a trip to D.C.,” said Norwich Track and Field coach Scottie Decker, prior to the event on June 11.
“Honor our Veterans come and show your support,” reads the top of the flier.
Proceeds from the fundraiser went to support local Veterans, as they travel to Washington D.C., during the fall, as they go to the National Mall and Veterans Memorials.
As coach Decker is one of the organizers of this event, and a supporter of Veterans alike, Decker employed the help of some Norwich track and field student-athletes. Pictured above is senior Ky’sawn Veale and junior Caroline Stewart – both recently competed at the New York State Championship the day prior – taking time out of their day to give back to Veterans by volunteering their time.
