NORWICH – With preparation in mind for the upcoming championship weekend with NY State qualifiers, the All American BMX riders were delayed one weekend due to weather and track closings.
That being said, last weekend’s slate of competition was no laughing matter, as the All American BMX team managed to race twice in local races.
Horseheads BMX results:
• Vinny ‘Rapid Redline’ Lawson, first-place in 8 intermediate class
• Cameron Carnachan, third-place in 8 novice class
Valley BMX in Athens, Pa. results:
• Vinny ‘Rapid Redline’ Lawson first-place, in 8 intermediate class
• Cameron Carnachan, second-place in 8 intermediate class
The All American BMX head coach, Dave Lawson, was able to coordinate the trip with the two riders – conquering the competition at Horseheads BMX first, all before stopping at Valley BMX on the way home to Norwich.
With the State Qualifier having been postponed last weekend, at Champion Speedway BMX – one might think that a damper would descend on the team.
You’d be wrong.
The All American BMX team has readjusted, revamped their game plan and are ready for a heavy slate of riding this coming weekend.
“This weekend is a busy one with lots of points up for grabs,” said coach Lawson.
On Friday, July 28, the team will be competing in a single points race at Grippen Park BMX.
Saturday, July 29, the team will have two races on their plates – the first, on Saturday morning, and being a Double Points State Qualifier race at Valley BMX in Athens, Pennsylvania. On the way home from their first State Qualifier race, the All American BMX riders will make a stop at Grippen Park BMX in the afternoon to race in another NYS Qualifier Double Points race.
On Sunday, July 30, the team will round out the weekend with one final race, finishing the weekend at Champion Speedway BMX Sunday morning for another NYS Qualifier Double Points race.
“This should bring a lot of riders across the state and from other states too. Spectators are always free at the tracks. Come out and watch our local area racers this weekend,” said coach Lawson.
